A.J’s of the Week

I know, I have been slacking on my ‘A.J,s’ of the week, but only because

a) Life just speeds up

b)I literally hate forcing myself to write when I have nothing to write about!

So…recently I have some ‘new jams’ and I cannot wait to share:

  1.  I’m a podcast junkie! Some of my favorite podcasts currently are:
    • Jamie Ivy’s The Happy Hour : Jamie has an amazing talent of making everyone feel like home during her podcasts. Its a literal girl chat. She hosts a diverse number of dynamic women living for Jesus and doing amazing things. I always take away amazing nuggets from hearing about different women’s life journeys.
    • The Red Couch Podcast is amazing! I haven’t even been through the whole first podcast, and I know I’ll love it. Propaganda (Christian rapper) and his professor wife  Dr. Alma Zaragoza-Petty put a urban/intellectual twist on topics ranging from politics to culture. Its extremely culturally relevant and I cannot wait to listen to more.
    • Elevation Church is a mainstay on my podcast playlist. If you haven’t heard of Steven Furtick go Google/Youtube one of his sermons now. Somehow his sermons are always right on time with the current season of life I’m in. Perfect for that Monday morning commute.
    • **If you guys have some favorite podcasts, send them my way!

2. Babann’s Southern Fried Chicken Food truck is sooo good. Its your favorite southern food, food truck style! I have been itching to try their red velvet waffles along with their chicken. Every Wednesday, Fayetteville’s Center for Economic Empowerment and Development is going to be hosting What the Truck where various food trucks will be at Festival Park from 11-2 pm. It started this past Wednesday and that’s when I tried their food. Its as good as they claimed and I’ll definitely be coming back.

3. Fayetteville’s Downtown culture is slowly but surely becoming more prominent. Going exploring down there has left me pleasantly surprised. Here are my 2 favorite little shops.

  • Southern Alternative is a really cute clothing/home decor/knick knack store that has a really cool bohemian/hippie/chic vibe. Its a perfect place to shop for a small gift for a friend being that they sell homemade candles and essential oils.
  • PRESSED describes itself as a creative space, making a place for local talent and workshops.  They sell a lot of items from local creatives, ranging from clothing to accessories.
