Wait. What Do You Do Again?

When I was 13 I begged my parents for a Myspace, the answer was “no” of course. But if only they knew that it would have prepared me for what I do now.

When I was in 10th grade I discovered Facebook, this was in 2008 and it was in its infancy stages. I think I had been eyeing it for awhile so I made a profile without permission from anyone. Hoping to distract my parents by showing them a family friend I discovered, I fearlessly showed them my profile. Yeah, that didn’t go over well, but I somehow convinced them to think on it for a week and then let me know. The result was: *drum roll please*

I got to keep it!  And since then I have been obsessed with social media. I used to always think that was embarrassing. Everyone acted like hating social media was this badge of honor, but me? I was passionate about it and STILL am. I loved to write, (remember Facebook notes?) share, make conversation, argue (haha). As the years went by I hopped on Twitter, Instagram, Blog spot, and eventually my very own big girl blog!

Many of you may know that I did a literal U-turn in my life and shifted into another direction. Catch up here if you’re new around these parts! I took a leap of faith, quit my medical assistant job, and started out on a journey of creativity. I didn’t have a road map or a guide; just a real gut feeling that I was starting on the path to figuring out my true passions.

By God’s grace, I got into an internship for a ministry where I actually learned to speak the language of where I wanted to go. I made graphics, wrote a LOT of copy (copy-writing = captions/blog posts..basically writing for marketing), curated content for Instagram and put my natural talent into boot camp! It was fun, tough, enlightening, and made me into a student. I couldn’t just rely on being naturally good at what I do. I had to fine-tune it.

So here’s to the question that a lot of you may have been wondering: (or not, I mean…you all have lives.) You know, its the one your aunties and church mother’s ask..out of care of course. LOL

“Wait. What is it you do again?”

Right now, I’m a marketing assistant and the bulk of my job consists of posting on social media, writing, curating content, putting together blogs, and everything in between.

My passion is now becoming a job, which is pretty surreal.

So…I’m stepping out.

I’m asking you to do two things:

  1. Click here to view my portfolio, copy the link and share with anyone who might need an Instagram overhaul for their business, brand, or marketing campaign.
  2. If that’s YOU (the person who could use a little razzle dazzle on their Instagram) email me at  april@apriljoyelle.com

That’s it. No pressure or strings attached. I’ll give you my free advice and you get to decide if it’s helpful or not. *shrugs*

Sounds like a win-win to me. I’m going to let ya’ll go, especially because its Monday and your coffee may not have hit your blood stream quite yet!

Have a fantastic Monday!

xo,
